Putin says Russia to pursue signing gas agreement with Ukraine

ST.PETERSBURG, Dec 20 (PRIME) -- Russia will pursue signing of a gas agreement with Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin said on Friday at a meeting with Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and leader of Ukraine’s party Opposition Platform – For Life Viktor Medvedchuk.

“We will strive for this, but they (the agreement conditions) must be mutually acceptable, without risks to both sides,” Putin said.

European Commission’s Vice President Maros Sefcovic said late on Thursday that Russia, Ukraine, and the E.U. had reached a principal agreement on Russian gas transit through the territory of Ukraine to Europe earlier in the day at trilateral negotiations. Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said that the sides had prepared a draft detailed protocol of the gas deal and hoped to reach final agreements very soon
